Elopement sessions are music to any photographer’s ears because it basically means you get to have an extra, extra long portrait session with a couple, and you never know what kind of adventure that can lead to. It’s also kind of magical to be one of the ONLY people around during one of the most special days in a couple’s lives.
When Gina approached me with wanting elopement photos, I was so excited to start planning with her and Clay. We are so lucky in Gainesville that we have some beautiful landscapes right next door to some fun urban settings. One of the original ideas for the ceremony location was out in Paynes Prairie, but we also knew that it was a little flooded out there and so weren’t sure if that would be best. However, after touring around town with Gina to several pretty but intimate outdoor ceremony location possibilities, we ended at the prairie, just at the time of day that the ceremony would start and it was just perfect. It is just so beautiful out there! Plus the prairie is filled with birds right now, which since Gina and Clay are big into birding, was obviously a sign that we were at the right place.
On the day of the shoot, we started their elopement with a first look at the Thomas Center, and took advantage of some of the really fun murals going up downtown before arriving at the prairie. They had close family join them for a sweet, little ceremony and then dinner. We ended the day going out with friends and family to a couple of Gina and Clay’s favorite Gainesville date-night bars for arcade games and pool. A perfect day, a perfect way to elope!
Congratulations Gina and Clay!
